Veranda
Bringing their own brand of Montreal Carnaval, Veranda is excited to be part of this first ever RiverCity Bluegrass Festival. This French-Canadian four-piece band performs in both of our country’s official languages and has energy to spare. Make sure you bring your dancing shoes.
Originally a duo of Léandre Joly-Pelletier (guitar, mandolin, and vocals) and Catherine-Audrey Lachapelle (guitar and vocals) Veranda has now also teamed up with Jean-Philippe Lelotte “Johnny Slapper” (bass) and Keiran Poile (fiddle). This foursome presents original bluegrass music that is infectious; it blends traditional and contemporary with sweet harmonies and showmanship that bursts at the seams.
From high lonesome bluegrass to intimate folk ballads, the band offers a fresh take on classic bluegrass music imagining a place out in the country, with Dolly Parton, Ralph Stanley, and Emmylou Harris singing under the Quebec pines. And--did we forget to mention--Catherine-Audrey performs a mean yodel.
