Slocan Ramblers
The Slocan Ramblers, one of Canada’s most popular bluegrass bands, is thrilled to be part of this inaugural RiverCity Bluegrass Festival. Says Adrian, “It’s high time we had our own winter bluegrass celebration.”
With an appearance at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, performances at the legendary Station Inn, and recognized by both the International Bluegrass Music Association (2020 Momentum Band of the Year Award Winner) and the Juno Awards (2019 Traditional Roots Album Nominee), the Slocan Ramblers are a bluegrass band on the move.
Rooted in tradition with fearless creativity and possessing a bold, dynamic sound, The band has become a leading light of today’s acoustic music scene. With energetic live shows, impeccable musicianship, the Slocan Ramblers have been winning over audiences from Merlefest to RockyGrass, and Wintergrass to Blueberry, and everywhere in between.
With three core members—Frank Evans (banjo and vocals), Adrian Gross, (mandolin) and Darryl Poulsen (guitar and vocals) and more recently Charles James (bass and vocals), the group travels from classic bluegrass to John Hartford-inspired musings all the while buttressed by impeccable musicianship. This is pure Canadian bluegrass roots powerful enough to cut through the fog and chart a new and exciting course for all of us to enjoy.
